Guides + scouts

As a third year Pathfinder, I run meetings for Guides and Scouts across Canada. There are currently two different options of projects that I can teach kids to create.

Option 1: Escape Game

1 hour

Kids will learn to create a simple video game which is controlled with the mouse-pointer. They will add music and graphics, and share their games with each other at the end of the meeting.

Option 2: Maze Game

1.5 hours

Kids will learn to create their own 1-level maze game controlled using the arrow keys. They will add music and graphics, and share their games with each other at the end of the meeting.

What Kids Are Saying

"It couldn't have been better! I loved it!"

"I loved the meeting."

"It was great! I had so much fun!"

What Adults Are Saying

My Girl Guide unit had the pleasure of working with Tara. She was so well organized and the Guides had a great time coding! Tara created a special website for our unit to provide clear step-by-step instructions for our Guides to complete before our meeting night. During our meeting night, she used a live stream on YouTube to guide our unit through coding a game. The lessons were great for every level of coder experience and Tara patiently helped each one of the girls to ensure that their games worked properly. The Guides were so proud of the products of the coding lessons and it definitely sparked an interest in several girls to continue coding. What a wonderful opportunity for fun, future ready programming! I would highly recommend Tara's wonderful teaching skills, and I am proud that she is a sister in Guiding!
